⚠️ CRITICAL LIFE SAFETY FIRST: If you smell natural gas (mercaptan / rotten eggs) or see smoking/charred electrical conduits, DO NOT TOUCH SWITCHES. Evacuate all occupants and dial 911 / gas utility immediately.
Phase 1: Immediate Safety & Visual Inspection (Do Not Touch Internals)
Confirm no smell of unburned gas or ozone/burnt electronics around the equipment.
Record exact alphanumeric error code (e.g. SolarEdge 3x1E, Navien E003, Bosch EA, Carrier 33).
Note whether indicator LED is solid red, flashing yellow, or completely dark.
Phase 2: Safe Homeowner Verification Checks
Electrical Solar Breaker: Check household main breaker panel. Is the double-pole solar PV breaker tripped? (If tripped once, reset. If trips immediately, LEAVE OFF).
Boiler Air Intake / Flue: Inspect outdoor PVC pipes on exterior house wall. Remove snow, ice, leaves, or bird nests.
HVAC Filter Check: Remove furnace air filter. If gray and clogged with dust, discard immediately and replace.
Condensate Line: Check clear plastic drain tube under tankless boiler. Ensure water can flow freely and is not frozen.
Single Power Cycle: Power off AC switch for 60 seconds, then power on. Does the error clear?
Phase 3: Information to Provide When Scheduling a Licensed Tech
Equipment Manufacturer & Model Number (found on exterior silver rating plate).
